What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

My legal team and I have been involved in several projects recently. One of the most important has been the coordination, negotiation and assistance to the management team and the drafting of documents to carry out essential goals on our agenda.

Additionally, we have had a relevant role in the complex agreements for commercialising fresh fruit and processed products.

The legal department has also participated in issuing corporate bonds in the capital market. In doing so, we have actively coordinated, assisted and supported the management team.

I have also been at the forefront of handling the corporate matter in alignment with the Argentine Security and Exchange Commission. Furthermore, I have driven the negotiations for the restructuring of debts.

Finally, compliance matters and drafting the company’s compliance policies have been my priorities.

As we enter the next decade, what do you think the in-house lawyer of the future will look like?

In-house lawyers of the future shall become more aware that we are expected to get closer to the business. They must help the company develop its activities in compliance with extensive regulations, ethics and transparency standards.

In the next decade —I would say a couple of years — a powerful technology and artificial intelligence leap will occur, providing new tools for in-house counselling; this will require our teams to be knowledgeable in the different areas of the company. Expectations will grow.

How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?

Business partners spontaneously rely on ethics professionals with solid knowledge of their fields that show deep knowledge of their needs and understanding of their problems. They need to be adequately supported to accomplish their goals. Consequently, the relationship between legal counsel and business partners will naturally strengthen if it is based on such standards.
