About

Turner is a global entertainment, sports and news company that operates 180 channels showcasing 47 brands in 34 languages in over 200 countries. Turner Internacional Argentina is one of Turner’s Latin America divisions and owns and operates localised versions of several of its channels shown around the world. Described as ‘a lawyer with outstanding dedication and commitment’ by her peers, Mariana Oteiza currently works as legal affairs director for Argentina and senior counsel covering Latin America at the company, after gaining experience in litigation, corporate, M&A, contract and consumer law by working for two law firms in Argentina; Perez Alati and Brons & Salas. Talking about her move from private practice to in-house, she says: ‘It was a great milestone in my career. The specific industry, passion and creativity that defines Turner requires a legal counsel to act as a partner rather than an advisor’. Oteiza gives the example of the soccer business of TNT Sports, which ‘created a great change in my mind-set of the way to practice law. A new business with such particular and specific needs required us to change the status quo’, she says. In her role as legal director and senior counsel, Oteiza provides Turner with advice in all areas of law within the Latin America region. She believes it’s important to ‘be a partner and get involved in the process’ when dealing with the business, and she advocates the idea to ‘build a team based on trust, collaboration, innovation and excellence’.
