Germán Fernández Lahore, corporate vice president of legal services at YPF, continues to impress at the Argentinian energy giant. YPF is a state owned vertically integrated energy company founded in 1922, which has expanded outside of Argentina to include operations in Chile, Bolivia and Brazil. In the words of a nominator, Fernández has ‘a great and deep knowledge of local legal issues, as well of the challenges that a local environment entails for business’. He is a celebrated expert in the industry in Argentina and has been highlighted in the 2017 and 2018 editions of the GC Powerlist: Argentina. In the last year, he has been involved in some typically important and complex legal matters for YPF. For example, YPF and Petronas start the development of La Amarga Chica, a large scale investment of US$2.3bn over the next four years, and inaugurated the Manantiales Behr wind farm. Additionally, YPF and Suzuki have signed a renewal of its strategic commercial alliance to continue until 2021, including an international motorcycle exhibition in Buenos Aires in 2018.
