Schlumberger has operated in Latin America for more than 80 years, and has activities across the region including field management in Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador; frontier exploration in Peru and Trinidad & Tobago; heavy oil field development in Venezuela; pre-salt reservoir development in Brazil; and new shale gas operations in Argentina. In Argentina, Schlumberger has had a strong presence since 1934 originating at Campamento Central field, in Comodoro Rivadavia and currently operates the Latin American South geomarket from Buenos Aires. Previously recognised for his team leadership and command of all legal aspects pertaining to energy production in the region, Duarte has continued to impress. In the words of a nominator, he has ‘developed an impressive capacity to deal with local legal requirements of operations in the industry’.
