Based in Buenos Aires, Gabriela Cremaschi serves as legal director and compliance officer covering South America at GE. Having been at the company since 2000, Cremaschi has made a substantial contribution to fostering an open reporting environment within the South American operation of the company, assisting with the development of a system that enables employees to log improprieties. This achievement is of particular importance as it is in-line with GE’s corporate strategy to eliminate corruption and foster a culture of value that reflects the integrity of its brand. In addition, Cremaschi and her team have contributed to the strengthening of GE’s policies and introduced a review of third-party service providers, achieved by a thorough process of background checking and training. Cremaschi is also known for providing legal support to new projects and transactions in South America, with the company looking to expand its presence in the region. In 2016, GE’s legal team closed a $900m Brazil power plant grid contract and a $280m loan to state-run airline Aerolineas Argentinas. As the conglomerate recently announced plans to invest $10bn in Argentina over the next decade, Cremaschi’s role will became even more integral.
