Described by his colleagues as an ‘outstanding business Italian lawyer’, Francisco Barreto has contributed to the development of the various businesses within DIRECTV Argentina, a leading direct broadcast satellite service provider and broadcaster, by providing sound legal advice over the last 15 years at the company. Praised by his peers for his negotiating skills and ability to influence corporate strategy, Barreto’s work at DIRECTV has been defined by his work to implement initiatives combatting piracy in Argentina. Recently, Barreto has been involved in securing permission for the launch of a new satellite technology that would enable to the company to extend its customer base by providing internet to more users at a lower cost. Prior to becoming an in-house lawyer in 2001, Barreto worked as an associate at Negri, Teijeiro & Incera.
