With a route network focused on key destinations in Botswana and South Africa, Air Botswana has carved out a competitive niche in the African airline market flying out of its principal base at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. It has been undertaking a modernisation programme which has seen it place orders for further regional jets to add to its fleet, including ATR-72 turboprop and Embraer E-170 jet models which will allow it to keep pace with competitor’s aircraft. Sealing these deals, and dealing with regulatory challenges inherent in expanding the company’s route network have been major sources of workload for the company’s legal team.
