Dr George Elombi was appointed executive vice president in April 2015, this role sees him manage the bank’s corporate governance, legal and board functions. As executive secretary, he oversees the meetings of the executive board and general meetings of shareholders as well as related shareholder matters. Prior to this role, Dr Elombi served as the director of legal services and executive secretary of the bank from January 2009.

He joined Afreximbank as legal officer in October 1996, continuously moving up the ranks to senior legal officer in 2001 to chief legal officer in 2003 and deputy director in 2008. He holds an LLM degree from the London School of Economics, University of London and a PhD degree in law, with a specialisation in international commercial arbitration.
