About

Founded in 1904 and present in 24 countries today, Attijariwafa bank group is a pan-African multinational and the Maghreb’s largest banking and financial group with over seven million customers and nearly 17,000 employees. Having worked in the bank’s legal department since 2005 and currently occupying the position of executive legal director, Abdelhaye El Kettani El Hamidi is a trusted and highly regarded contributor to Attijariwafa bank.

In his current role, El Kettani El Hamidi has responsibility for all group contracts and partnership agreements, is project manager for the design and implementation of a new legal information system for the group and provides legal counselling for various departments within Attijariwafa.

His most recent significant contribution to the company was working on the 2017 acquisition of Barclays Bank Egypt which involved the creation of a new Attijariwafa bank subsidiary in Egypt to take over 55 branches that cover the majority of Egyptian cities and governorates. Before Attijariwafa bank, El Kettani El Hamidi headed the legal and litigation departments at Wafasalaf, a consumer credit leader in the Moroccan market and subsidiary of Attijariwafa bank and Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance for over six years between 1999 and 2005.

Prior to that he was deputy head of the corporate litigation department at Credit Immobilier et Hotelier, a Moroccan bank he worked at between 1993 and 1999. His professional legal career began in 1988 in the legal department the OCP Group, a leading exporters of phosphate rock, phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizers in the world. El Kettani El Hamidi graduated in 1987 from University Hassan II Casablanca.
