Career Biography

Alyce Harper is senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Western Forest Products, where she leads the company’s legal, corporate governance, compliance and risk management functions. As a member of the executive leadership team, she advises senior management and the board of directors on strategic transactions, governance, regulatory matters and enterprise risk across one of Canada’s leading integrated forest products companies. 

Since joining Western in 2016, Ms Harper has played a key role in the company’s strategic initiatives, complex commercial arrangements and significant corporate transactions. Recognised for her pragmatic, business-oriented approach, she partners closely with executive leadership to navigate evolving legal, environmental, regulatory and stakeholder considerations while supporting the company’s long-term objectives. 

Prior to joining Western, Ms Harper practised at DLA Piper Canada, a leading global law firm, advising natural resource companies on corporate, commercial and governance matters. Her private practice experience included mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracting, corporate governance, real estate, financing, securities law and advising directors and management teams on regulatory issues. 

Ms Harper holds a juris doctor from the University of British Columbia and a bachelor of business administration from Simon Fraser University and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. She is an advocate for the role of in-house counsel as a strategic business partner within organisations.
