Career Biography Christopher Twemlow is general counsel and company secretary at Allianz UK, one of the largest general insurers in the UK and part of the Allianz global financial services group. Previously, Chris was UK general counsel for Euroclear, the post-trade securities market infrastructure group, which is the operator of the CREST securities settlement system. 

An accomplished general counsel with 25 years of legal experience, Chris Twemlow has a consistent track record of providing strategic legal, regulatory and governance leadership. His expertise spans across financial services sectors where he successfully navigates complex legal challenges, mitigates risks and makes business happen more effectively. He is adept at fostering collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders and driving legal strategies that align with business objectives. 

The Allianz UK legal and governance team manages legal risk and is an active business partner in helping achieve Allianz’s business strategy, in the interests of policyholders and other stakeholders. This year, the team is delivering a significant simplification of the Allianz UK corporate and regulatory structure through a Part VII insurance business transfer, with one of the largest general insurance scheme customer communications exercises in recent history.
