Career Biography

Jorge Adrián Rincón Plata is an Attorney from Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga and holds an LL.M in International Business Law from Queen Mary & Westfield College – University of London.

He has completed studies in Foreign Exchange Regulations at Universidad Externado de Colombia, International Law at the Organization of American States, Regulation and Operation of the Securities Market at Universidad de los Andes, and has also completed the Strategic Management Program at Inalde Business School.

He began his career in the financial sector in 2006 as an attorney in the Legal Division at Banco de Bogotá, later serving as Legal Advisor to the International and Treasury Vice Presidency of the Bank. Since 2012, he has been a member of the executive team at Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores S.A., the financial holding company of the conglomerate, where he serves as Corporate Legal Vice President for the Group.

For nearly 20 years, Dr. Rincón has had the privilege of participating in the main transactions of the financial conglomerate, including the Group’s expansion and internationalization through the acquisition of BAC-Credomatic by Banco de Bogotá in 2010; the acquisition of AFP Horizonte by Porvenir; the acquisition of Grupo Financiero Reformador in Guatemala; the purchase of Banco BBVA Panamá by BAC Credomatic in 2013; the acquisition of Multifinancial Group Inc., parent company of Panamanian bank Multibank, in 2020, and, more recently, and, more recently, the integration of the Group’s fiduciary businesses in Colombia in 2021 and the acquisition agreement of Itaú’s retail banking operations in Colombia and Panama by Banco de Bogotá.

He has also taken part in several operations in both the local and international capital markets, among which are noteworthy Banco de Bogotá’s first International Bond Issuance in 2011 and, most notably, Grupo Aval’s debut on Wall Street with its Initial Public Offering of ADRs on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014.
