Career biography

Maira Serrano Prados is a corporate counsel with more than 15 years of experience supporting multinational operations across Latin America. Based in Panama, she served as Senior Legal Counsel at 3M, providing legal guidance across business operations, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, trade compliance, HR, and regulatory affairs for the LATAM region. Her work focuses on helping organisations navigate complex regulatory environments while maintaining operational continuity and supporting business objectives.

Maira recently completed a Master of Business Administration in Supply Chain Management at Fitchburg State University, strengthening her ability to align legal considerations with operational and supply‑chain dynamics.

During her time at 3M, Maira contributed to a number of regional and global initiatives. Notably, she supported the company’s legal digital‑transformation efforts, including the implementation of the global Intake tool for Procurement and Trade Compliance. This project introduced a more structured and transparent process for managing legal requests and helped improve efficiency across several business functions.

Her responsibilities also included advising leadership on regulatory matters, commercial and business decisions, and compliance issues; managing trade‑compliance cases across Latin America; overseeing corporate‑secretary duties for regional entities; and supporting HR on employment and workplace matters. She worked closely with cross‑functional teams to address operational challenges, supply‑chain issues, product‑quality questions, and commercial negotiations.

Earlier in her career, Maira established the legal function for 3M Panama Pacifico’s supply‑chain operations, covering governance, compliance, employment matters, and risk management. Prior roles in Panama and an internship in Berlin expanded her experience in corporate, regulatory, and commercial law.

Fluent in Spanish and English, with basic knowledge of French and German, Maira is active in several professional and business organisations in Panama.
