Recently, we have been involved in resolving tax-related legal proceedings concerning income tax against Tax Authority, involving tax liabilities approximately US$13 million.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

In the energy sector, legal stability is synonymous with operational continuity. My approach to managing crises and ensuring resilience is base in reviewing contracts and clauses and try to renegotiate before litigation arises. Also, during periods of instability, the energy regulatory framework often changes rapidly (tax increase, caps or changes in subsidies) I maintain constant regulatory vigilance to adapt the legal strategy in real time, ensuring that any emergency measures adopted by the company comply with current regulations and minimise exposure to penalties or administrative claims.

Beyond legal expertise, strategic thinking, trust your legal intuition and effective communication are key. You must be able to translate complex legal requirements into clear, actionable business decisions and act as a true partner to the executive team.

What do you think is the greatest innovation you have enacted in the past year?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the legal sector, allowing lawyers to focus on work that offers greater strategic and creative value. The goal is not to replace professionals, but to integrate tools that optimise efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the accuracy of data analysis.
