Career Biography

My name is Odeth Zepeda Ramos. I am a Mexican lawyer with over twenty years of experience in the field of corporate law and regulatory compliance. I currently serve as General Counsel at Sizzling Platter de México, S.A. de C.V., a restaurant operating company.

I am passionate about the legal function within corporations and view lawyers as strategic business partners. I have had the privilege of contributing to the company’s evolution by promoting legal compliance and driving technological innovation and operational efficiency. This includes implementing digital tools, electronic signatures, and contract management systems, as well as establishing internal corporate governance policies and strengthening organisational culture.

Facing various challenges such as labor reforms and managing a large workforce has led me to discover my passion for labor law, which is closely tied to human rights, and I always strive to advocate for equity. I have also contributed to implementing several legal requirements affecting the company while working collaboratively with other departments.

I am also a founding partner of BZ Soluciones Jurídicas, S.C., a corporate law consulting firm where I advise companies on corporate law, legal audits, and corporate governance.

Another of my greatest passions is academia. I firmly believe that a lawyer who stops studying gradually stops being a lawyer, as society continuously evolves and with it the need for new regulations that impact individuals and companies. I am currently studying legal technology, which I believe must be applied ethically and responsibly.

I earned my law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where I specialised in Business Law. I later obtained a Master’s degree in Business and Corporate Law from Universidad Humanitas and pursued a Doctorate in Labor Law at the Institute of Postgraduate Studies in Law. I am currently working on my dissertation. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with colleagues and new generations of lawyers.

In my role as General Counsel, one of the most important aspects is promoting the growth and development of the legal team across its different specialties. This requires a constant effort to maintain open communication to understand both the technical and human dimensions of each team member.

One of my main interests is reading, which I consider an essential tool. I am passionate about books on philosophy, personal development, and law, as they strengthen one’s judgment and sense of purpose.

I am convinced that I am part of a new generation of legal practitioners committed to legal management grounded in corporate responsibility, technological development, and respect for people as the core of every organisation.
