How do you approach managing the legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the resilience of the organisation?

As Legal Director, I maintain a legal strategy aligned with business objectives. The legal areas are business enablers, and we must design proactive, reactive and mitigation strategies that allow value protection and market development.

This approach creates organisational resilience that is nurtured by the participation of the Legal Department in the Corporate Governance bodies, as well as in the Risk Committee.

Thus, in times of instability or crisis, we arrive prepared. Rather than reacting, we implement actions according to a matrix of legal, business, and reputational challenges that give us visibility into how, when, and where to act.

What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

My recent management focused on six strategic pillars to strengthen the Legal Department: the Personal Data Protection Management System was implemented, ensuring full compliance with the LFPDPPP and shielding the company against fines. Legal and ethical compliance programs were consolidated to mitigate risks in vulnerable areas. At the corporate level, I modernised the Legal Corporate Governance framework, optimising transparency, efficiency and accountability for the operation of the Board. In addition, it was possible to promote the materialisation of the Group’s investments. Finally, I promoted operational efficiency by simplifying key processes through the SAJ and strengthening ethical monitoring with the consolidation of the Group Complaint Line.

How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?

We promote a strong internal policy of labor inclusion, non-discrimination and participation of diversity not only within the Legal Department, but also across the rest of the corporation.

Currently, our main initiative is a universal accessibility policy to guarantee the human rights and professional development of people with disabilities. This implies implementing, in a gradual and reasonable way, safe spaces through tools that improve access to mobility, orientation, communication, reading, writing, listening, vision, among others, in the business environment.

What legal technology organizations or products help you in your role?

One of the greatest achievements of the Legal Directorate has been the implementation of the Legal Administrative System (SAJ), a platform developed internally to centralise contracts, signatures, powers of attorney, among other critical processes. This saves time and improves efficiency, transparency and traceability.

More recently, we have incorporated the use of artificial intelligence applied to legal matters. These new tools optimise processes, strengthen responsiveness, and increase the depth of analysis. We have the support of specialised firms that support us in the correct implementation of these tools, ensuring that their use complies with legislation and strategic business objectives.
