Career biography

Gary Ng exemplifies strategic foresight and cross-border legal leadership. With over 25 years of experience across Asia Pacific, he currently serves as Head of Legal, Asia and Global Lead Lawyer for Nutrition & Bioindustry at Roquette. In these dual roles, Gary leads legal, ethics and compliance for more than 30 entities in 13 jurisdictions, and manages a global legal team supporting Roquette’s Nutrition & Bioindustry business worldwide.

Since joining Roquette in 2022, Gary has transformed the legal function in Asia – growing the team by 133% in three years – and elevated the role of legal in business support. His remit spans advising senior leadership on governance, strategic transactions and risk management across the food & nutrition, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, plant proteins, industrial applications and cosmetics sectors.

Global & Regional Leadership: Scaled the Asia legal team from two to six lawyers and now manages a worldwide team aligned with Roquette’s Nutrition & Bioindustry growth strategy.

Strategic Transactions: Led the legal integration of the Qualicaps acquisition in Japan, provided leadership for equity transactions in India and China, supported investment in a Japanese food tech start-up, and enabled expansion through new contract manufacturers and distributors in Asia. At GSK, he supported multi-billion-dollar joint ventures and divestments across the region.

Operational Excellence: Delivered six-figure euro savings through a reimagined legal procurement strategy; implemented a global external counsel directive and automated NDA workflows at zero incremental cost.

Innovation & Talent Development: Launched a multi-year learning and development strategy for the global legal team, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

Gary’s leadership is defined by a pragmatic, business-focused approach that balances compliance with commercial outcomes. He holds LPEC and IAPP certifications and serves as Data Protection Officer for Singapore and Vietnam. Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with conversational Mandarin, he combines cultural agility with strategic insight.
