Career Biography

Zack Quek is the Group General Counsel at Ninja Van Group, where he leads the legal and compliance functions across Southeast Asia. He oversees regulatory risk management, commercial transactions, fundraising, and strategic projects in one of the region’s fastest-growing logistics technology companies.

Zack joined Ninja Van during a period of rapid expansion and has been instrumental in building the company’s legal infrastructure to support its operations across 7 markets in Southeast Asia and China. He has combined legal precision with commercial pragmatism, helping the business scale while maintaining high standards of governance and compliance.

His key achievements include multiple fundraisings rounds, which included major investors such as Alibaba Group and GeoPost. He also negotiated and structured a complex and major commercial lending facility with HSBC bank – one of the region’s first large-scale debt transactions for a start-up. To close revenue contracts faster and improve consistency with Ninja Van’s contracting policy, he introduced a group-wide digital contracting process that allows a high number of customers to be onboarded through automated and standardised agreements. This enabled Zack and other senior legal counsels to focus on closing customised contracts with key accounts. He also implemented across Ninja Van Group a unified regulatory compliance framework covering privacy and licensing requirements across all operating countries. He has also driven process automation and introduced transparent ticketing systems to enhance business-legal collaboration and accountability to management.

He leads a regional legal team of over 22 professionals, fostering a culture of agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Zack focused on internal development, ensuring his team gained exposure to cross-border and group-level work. Therefore, many in Ninja Van Legal are recognised by various legal industry publications.

Before joining Ninja Van, Zack was an in-house counsel covering the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. His work there covered regulatory compliance, litigation, corporate transactions, integration projects and legal operations improvements across multiple jurisdictions.
