Jasvinder Singh is a distinguished legal professional whose career spans decades of leadership in energy, infrastructure, M&A and corporate law. As Chief Legal Officer at Gentari, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the legal and regulatory frameworks that support the company’s mission to offer solutions that help accelerate the transition to net zero. Gentari, a subsidiary of PETRONAS, focuses on renewable energy, hydrogen, and green mobility, and Jasvinder’s legal stewardship ensures that its global operations remain compliant, ethical, and forward-looking.
Born and raised in Malaysia, Jasvinder’s academic journey is marked by exceptional achievement. In 1991, he was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship, becoming the sole recipient from Malaysia that year. This prestigious honour enabled him to pursue postgraduate studies in the UK, where he deepened his expertise in law, international trade & sustainability and governance.
Before joining Gentari, Jasvinder held senior legal roles across various sectors at PETRONAS, including M&A, energy, finance, and infrastructure. His experience includes overseeing complex cross-border M&A transactions, managing regulatory compliance in multiple jurisdictions, and advising on strategic investments. He has worked extensively in Malaysia, India, Australia and South Africa, contributing to landmark projects such as the development of renewable energy assets, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Notably, he played a key role in the completion of complex hybrid round-the-clock solar plants in India, and helped secure final investment decision (FID) for a green hydrogen ammonia plant in India —demonstrating his commitment to sustainable innovation.
At Gentari, Jasvinder is known for his collaborative leadership style and strategic foresight. He works closely with the company’s executive team to align legal frameworks with business goals, ensuring that Gentari’s growth is both responsible and resilient. His contributions extend beyond legal counsel; he is actively involved in governance, ethics, and risk management, helping to foster a culture of integrity and transparency.
