Career Biography
Richard Kramer is the Group General Counsel and one of eight Managing Directors at Equis, one of the largest independent renewable energy developers in Asia. Equis has over 300 employees, based in Singapore, Australia, Japan and Korea, and focuses on the development, construction and operation of solar, wind and other renewable and hybrid (including BESS and bioenergy) systems, waste processing, and waste recovery infrastructure assets.
As Group GC and Singapore office head, Richard is responsible for a global team of approximately twenty legal and compliance personnel, and local office operations. He also sits on the Investment, Executive and other Board committees responsible for determining, implementing and overseeing the strategic direction and operations of the group.
Prior to joining Equis, Richard served as a Partner at a leading US-based firm and Partner and Country Head (Japan) of a “Silver Circle” UK based firm where he focused on energy transactions. He also has experience working as a director in both the legal and investment banking divisions of a major investment bank in London and New York.
Richard is a graduate of Columbia College (’96) and Columbia Law School (JD ’01) in New York, is fluent in Japanese and qualified as both a UK Solicitor and US Attorney (New York and Hawaii State).
