Career Biography

I studied at the Academia del Perpetuo Socorro Class of ’78 and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. I then studied law at the Interamerican University, obtaining a Juris Doctor degree in 1985.

I have been a licensed solicitor since 1986, and in my early years I devoted myself to litigating civil cases in both federal and state courts, focusing primarily on representing cases involving medical malpractice and negligence.

In 1993, I had the opportunity to work as in-house legal counsel for Cellular Communications of Puerto Rico, Inc., better known commercially as Cellular One, which at that time was entering the telecommunications market as a new competitor. That experience was very revealing in terms of my personal and professional character, as it gave me the opportunity to see the practice of law from a very different perspective and to have the responsibility of supporting the company in areas that I had not had the opportunity to learn about in my professional career.

In 2008, I was offered the opportunity to join Puerto Rico Telephone Company, Inc. after it was acquired by the Mexican company America Móvil, which allowed me to continue expanding my professional experience and, in this case, to have a working group of more than twenty people, including lawyers and support staff.

Having the role I have had over the years has also given me an interesting perspective on the business itself, beyond the legal aspect, which I greatly value.

These years have allowed me to continue expanding my professional experience and to have the opportunity to share it with my colleagues, with the hope that it will help them in their personal and professional growth.
