How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

The management of legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis requires a very proactive approach. For a General Counsel, it is important to establish a proper network within the company and to be aligned with the overall business strategy. Direct involvement of the legal team and early assessment of potential crises are crucial for developing a reliable and efficient company strategy. In my position as Director of Sofinter S.p.A. (the holding company of the Group), I am directly involved in all strategic decisions of the Group, ensuring timely risk identification and the development of adequate mitigation strategies.

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?

Sofinter has developed its sustainability practices over the years, starting with the adoption of a Corporate Compliance Program that oversees several aspects of the Group’s governance, such as the Code of Ethics, Anti-Corruption Model, 231 Model, Export Control System Manual, as well as specific policies for Quality, Safety and Environment compliant with the highest standards in the sector. Most recently, Sofinter develops its sustainability policies with the aim of reducing its environmental impact, integrating sustainability into its core business, and improving the well-being and quality of life of its employees.
