Career Biography
Petros D. Selekos is an Ass. Professor in the Department of Business Law and Labour Law at the Law School of Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) and serves as the Chief Legal Officer of METLEN Energy & Metals.
Born in Larymna in 1965, he graduated from the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a PhD in Corporate and Public Law from the same institution, as well as a Master’s degree in Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law, Competition Law, and Banking & Financial Law. He was also a Max Planck Institute (Munich) research fellow.
Following his academic achievements, Selekos began his career in 1996 as a lawyer at the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC). In 1997, he took over the duties of Legal Advisor to the General Secretariat of Commerce at the Ministry of Development, while at the same time he founded the Law Firm Selekos-Gouskou & Co, where he continues to serve as Managing Partner to this day. In 2000, he assumed the position of Legal Counsel & Director of Judicial Affairs at Hellenic Post SA (ELTA), a role he held until 2019. From 2011 to 2015, he served as Secretary General for Strategic and Private Investments at the Ministry of Economy, Development and Competitiveness. Since 2020, he has led the legal function at METLEN Energy & Metals as Chief Legal Officer, overseeing the Company’s corporate, regulatory and strategic legal initiatives.
