How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

Legal management in unstable scenarios, such as abrupt regulatory changes, social tensions, or supply chain disruptions, requires a preventive and flexible approach. The legal department supports the company by: constantly monitoring the regulatory environment, preparing contingency plans for critical contracts, and strengthening compliance and corporate governance mechanisms. Our legal strategy is aligned with the overall business resilience strategy by ensuring operational continuity, mitigating reputational risks and ensuring that every business decision is made within a framework of legality and ethics. The role of the legal department is not only reactive, but also strategic: we anticipate scenarios, generate early warnings and participate in crisis management committees to ensure that the company’s responses are consistent, agile and sustainable over time.

What are the main cases or transactions that you have been involved in recently?

In recent months, we have undergone a process of company spin-off and all the adaptation processes that arise as a result of this, accompanied by negotiations and reviews of distribution contracts with strategic players at national and international level, seeking to adapt commercial conditions to a context of high inflationary and regulatory pressure.

What do you see as the major legal challenges for businesses in Bolivia over the next five years, and how are you preparing to address them?

The next five years will bring significant legal challenges for consumer goods companies in Bolivia. First, greater regulatory intervention in pricing, labelling and advertising is possible, which will require strict and dynamic compliance. Secondly, environmental and sustainability regulations will become more stringent, driven by both national authorities and international commitments, forcing companies to redesign production processes and supply chains. Finally, the labour and tax environment presents growing risks of conflict and scrutiny, especially in the areas of social security and electronic invoicing.

From the legal area, we are preparing by creating a cross-cutting compliance system that integrates local regulations with international standards, ongoing training programmes for commercial and operational areas, and the building of transparent relationships with regulatory authorities. We understand that anticipation and collaboration are key to navigating these challenges, ensuring that the company not only complies with regulations but also turns compliance into a competitive advantage.
