Career Biography

Stephani Bueno is a lawyer with over 15 years of professional experience advising companies, focusing on labour law, social security, regulatory compliance, and corporate management. She graduated from Universidad de Montevideo, where she also obtained a diploma in university teaching. She later completed a Master’s degree in Human Management at IEEM, which allowed her to combine her legal expertise with a strategic perspective on organisational and people management.

She began her career in 2007 alongside Dr. Pedro Gari at Estudio Pérez del Castillo, gaining her first experience in labour litigation. She then joined Jiménez de Aréchaga, where she worked for nearly two years on projects for Banco Santander. At the end of 2009, she joined Ferrere, one of the leading law firms in the region, where she worked for 14 years. During this period, she developed strong expertise in labour and social security law, advising national and international companies on regulatory compliance, legal risk prevention, and labour relations management. She also participated in collective bargaining, corporate policy design, and the resolution of complex conflicts, which provided her with a comprehensive profile in corporate law practice. At Ferrere, she also established and led the firm’s immigration practice.

She also participated in the start-up of Uruguay’s Health Technology Assessment Agency, serving as legal advisor and playing a key role in creating the Human Resources department. She was responsible for organising and coordinating recruitment processes that brought in over 30 highly qualified professionals, as well as managing all hiring and procurement related to the renovation of the building where the agency currently operates.

Since March 2023, Stephani has served as in-house counsel at AIVA, providing legal advice across various departments. In this role, she collaborates on structuring internal processes, reviewing and negotiating contracts, and providing practical solutions adapted to the organisation’s dynamics. In parallel, she works as an independent consultant, assisting individuals and companies from diverse sectors in implementing best legal and management practices.

Since 2016, she has also been a professor at IEEM, teaching Labour Law applied to the private healthcare system in the Master’s in Healthcare Management program. Her academic role allows her to share her experience with professionals and executives, combining theory and practice, and contributing to the development of leaders with awareness of legal and management implications.
