Career Biography
María del Rocío Soca Orique is a lawyer and public notary from the Catholic
University of Uruguay, with more than eight years of experience in legal advisory,
contract management, and dispute resolution, particularly in the construction,
energy, and infrastructure sectors. She holds a postgraduate degree in International
Trade from the University of Montevideo, as well as specialised training in contract
management applied to engineering and construction projects.
She is currently Legal Counsel at Construcciones e Instalaciones Electromecánicas
S.A. (CIEMSA), where she comprehensively manages the legal aspects of
engineering and construction projects, from the bidding stage to contractual
execution. Her work includes assisting in bid preparation, negotiating and drafting
complex contracts, preventing and managing contractual risks, overseeing
regulatory compliance, and advising the company in out-of-court dispute resolution
proceedings.
Previously, she was Legal Counsel at Grupo Ventus Global, a company specialised
in renewable energy, where she advised on the structuring and financing of wind and
solar projects, led due diligence processes, and negotiated agreements with
national and international counterparties and suppliers.
Her professional career began at Ferrere Abogados, one of the most prestigious law
firms in the region, where she worked for more than four years, first as a law clerk
and later as an associate in the litigation and arbitration team. She was involved in
civil, commercial, and insolvency proceedings, gaining a solid technical and
strategic foundation.
Her distinctive skills include the ability to lead complex negotiations, anticipate
legal risks, design preventive strategies, and communicate effectively with
multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
She has published specialised articles, such as an analysis of the Private
Reorganisation Agreement (APR) as a tool for restructuring liabilities in times of
crisis, published on Ferrere Abogados’ platform. In addition, she remains active in
continuous professional development, incorporating knowledge in digital
transformation, sustainability, and skills for the green transition, aligning her legal
practice with global trends. She complements her profile with multiple courses in
corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting, international insolvency,
insurance, and the application of artificial intelligence to law.
