Career Biography

María del Rocío Soca Orique is a lawyer and public notary from the Catholic

University of Uruguay, with more than eight years of experience in legal advisory,

contract management, and dispute resolution, particularly in the construction,

energy, and infrastructure sectors. She holds a postgraduate degree in International

Trade from the University of Montevideo, as well as specialised training in contract

management applied to engineering and construction projects.

She is currently Legal Counsel at Construcciones e Instalaciones Electromecánicas

S.A. (CIEMSA), where she comprehensively manages the legal aspects of

engineering and construction projects, from the bidding stage to contractual

execution. Her work includes assisting in bid preparation, negotiating and drafting

complex contracts, preventing and managing contractual risks, overseeing

regulatory compliance, and advising the company in out-of-court dispute resolution

proceedings.

Previously, she was Legal Counsel at Grupo Ventus Global, a company specialised

in renewable energy, where she advised on the structuring and financing of wind and

solar projects, led due diligence processes, and negotiated agreements with

national and international counterparties and suppliers.

Her professional career began at Ferrere Abogados, one of the most prestigious law

firms in the region, where she worked for more than four years, first as a law clerk

and later as an associate in the litigation and arbitration team. She was involved in

civil, commercial, and insolvency proceedings, gaining a solid technical and

strategic foundation.

Her distinctive skills include the ability to lead complex negotiations, anticipate

legal risks, design preventive strategies, and communicate effectively with

multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

She has published specialised articles, such as an analysis of the Private

Reorganisation Agreement (APR) as a tool for restructuring liabilities in times of

crisis, published on Ferrere Abogados’ platform. In addition, she remains active in

continuous professional development, incorporating knowledge in digital

transformation, sustainability, and skills for the green transition, aligning her legal

practice with global trends. She complements her profile with multiple courses in

corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting, international insolvency,

insurance, and the application of artificial intelligence to law.
