Career biography

Alicia is a seasoned Legal Manager based in Montevideo, Uruguay, currently serving as in-house counsel for a leading company in the insurance sector. She brings over 20 years of legal experience, combining a strong foundation in private practice with strategic leadership in corporate legal management.

She began her career at a prestigious international law firm, where she worked for more than a decade advising national and multinational clients on corporate law, regulatory compliance, and cross-border transactions. Her work in private practice refined her skills in legal drafting, negotiation, and multilingual communication, with fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.

Following her tenure in private practice, Alicia transitioned to the in-house legal field, where she currently leads the legal department of Hidrovias do Brasil SA – South Corridor Operations and Global Strategic Projects. In this role, she oversees contract management, institutional governance, and regulatory strategy, ensuring legal alignment with business objectives. Her leadership is marked by precision, strategic foresight, and a deep understanding of operational realities.

Alicia has been shortlisted multiple times by Legal 500 as a leading lawyer in Uruguay, including in the 2025 edition. This recognition reflects her sustained excellence, ethical advocacy, and impact within both the legal and corporate sectors.
