General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer | Deloitte
Paul Kerrigan
General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer | Deloitte
< strong> Team size: 7
What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?
Continuation of our digital transformation, particularly the ongoing rollout of our in-house GenAI tool and its deployment across our business, including to the legal team.
What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?
Without a doubt, curiosity is a key attribute both to have and to cultivate. Business is moving so much faster even just since COVID, and curiosity and openness of approach to new challenges keeps things interesting for in-house counsel, while strengthening relationships with our business clients who understand that we are here to help them achieve their goals, no matter how creative or leftfield they may seem!
What strategies do you employ to ensure the successful digital transformation of a legal department while maintaining compliance with your country’s data protection laws?
I am fortunate that in addition to overseeing Deloitte Ireland’s superb legal team, I also have responsibility for our privacy and confidentiality team. This ensures really close collaboration and a unified approach to understanding the scope of digital transformation and the issues that arise from a data privacy perspective.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
Finally, if you wish to nominate another general counsel who you think should be included in the publication, please do let me know and I’ll reach out to them.
