Career biography

Louise Barrett joined GH Research as Vice President and Head of Legal in 2025, leading a team of 3 lawyers. GH Research is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients by developing a practice-changing treatment in depression. Barrett’s role with GH Research involves oversight of the legal function and ensuring effective management of legal risk.

Barrett has almost eight years’ experience working as a lawyer in the biotech industry, having previously served as Head of Legal with Iterum Therapeutics from 2017 to 2025.

Prior to Iterum Therapeutics, Barrett worked in Western Union as an Associate Counsel with responsibility for corporate governance and regulatory matters.

Before moving inhouse, Barrett spent many years as a corporate lawyer in private practice in Ireland advising on clients in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, technology and venture capital industries.

Barrett holds a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies from University College Dublin, Ireland and a Master’s in European law from University College Dublin, Ireland.

Barrett is an Irish practicing solicitor and a member of the Law Society of Ireland and the Law Society of England and Wales.
