How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During periods of crisis or instability, my focus is on legal risk prevention and inter-institutional coordination. I work closely with the organisation’s substantive and cross-functional areas to provide legal analysis, reasoned legal opinions, and regulatory assessment reports that ensure all procedures are carried out in compliance with the current legal framework. This requires a constant review of applicable regulations and institutional guidelines, with the aim of identifying potential legal contingencies in advance and proposing viable solutions that contribute to institutional resilience.

Based on your experiences in the past year, are there any trends in the legal or business world that you are keeping an eye on that you think other in-house lawyers should be mindful of?

The constant updating of the regulatory framework and international standards, especially those related to tax transparency, the digitalisation of administrative processes, and the governance of public data, is also noteworthy. Also notable is the growing integration of technological tools in legal management, the use of artificial intelligence for managing public administration processes and data management for decision-making, the automation of approval workflows, and platforms for controlling legal risks.

Although its adoption is proceeding cautiously in the public sector, its value in improving traceability and legal certainty is increasingly recognised. Finally, changes in international tax regulations and the advancement of global tax cooperation require constant monitoring to anticipate their local impact.
