How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

We operate in the maritime industry which has traditionally been subject to ever changing circumstances. As such, thriving with transformation, being agile and creative is paramount in managing our legal aspects. Our legal strategy is flexible and pragmatic and closely integrated with business to ensure our organisation’s resilience.

What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

The delisting, re-domiciliation, and merger of an investment. The review of and commitment to several private equity funds.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

Artificial intelligence is also of great assistance to the legal profession. In our in-house practice, we use it every day and stay updated through our IT department, colleagues, the news, and seminars.

In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently (these can be legal, political, economy or business-based)?

Main trends include enhancing and securing economic growth by making business easier and closing the innovation gap, as well as accelerating the green transition towards more sustainable production and consumption. Ensuring adequate defence is also a key trend.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During periods of instability or crises, we do not always know what challenges or opportunities lie ahead. We try to prepare for the unexpected. Preparing for the unexpected is about adopting a mindset that determines how we handle critical situations, as we do not always know exactly what we are preparing for.

Thus, it becomes even more critical to ensure that the legal team masters teamwork — within the legal department, cross-functionally across the company, and within the group. A strong network of external advisors is also instrumental in navigating complex situations.

We continuously encourage cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing, supporting the establishment of trust as the backbone of our interactions.

When we know and trust each other, we believe we are better equipped to handle complex situations.

What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

The overall legal team collaborates with and provides legal support to the other departments and companies within the group on operational matters, as well as corporate, investment, and M&A activities. Our legal organisation has undergone significant growth over the past years since 2020, when Lars Larsen Group was conceptually established as a Family Office.

Today, the legal department is divided into three primary areas. The Commercial & Compliance area mainly provides support on commercial contracts, IPR, marketing, and compliance issues such as compliance programmes.
