How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
During a time of extraordinary instability and crisis, the GN strategy across legal, compliance and other important core areas is closely aligned with the broader business strategy. This involves increased tracking initiatives to secure timely implementation of relevant regulatory changes.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
AI is impacting in-house legal advisors a lot. Copilot provides excellent efficiency gains and is quickly being adopted. Additionally, ChatGPT is being adopted as a safe technology, providing quick and easy access to global “rough” legal advice and easy document drafting. The technology is improving at a high rate.
In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently (these can be legal, political, economy or business-based)?
A clear trend is material changes in the geo/trade political landscape. There is a shift from managing businesses globally towards more regional management and setups. This is driven by increased nationalistic regulatory barriers and tariffs. Inhouse legal functions will be adapting to this changing landscape.
