What are the most significant cases, projects and/or transactions that you and/or your legal team have recently been involved in?

I have recently handled several complex transactions concerning the transfer of business enterprises involving European and American corporations. One particular case related to a business transfer combined with insolvency proceedings in EU member states, governed by Regulation (EU) 2015/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council on insolvency proceedings, which added an additional layer of complexity to the transaction.

Another significant project I am currently overseeing covers all European countries within our organisation and focuses on aligning with the requirements of Directive (EU) 2023/970 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 10 May 2023. The Directive introduces a new perspective on the European labour market, requiring organisations to implement structural changes in recruitment, compensation, and reporting practices. As all EU member states must transpose the Directive into national legislation by 7 June 2026, our organisation is proactively working to ensure full compliance across jurisdictions.

Considering that Bulgaria is set to adopt the Euro currency starting 1 January 2026, I am actively involved in overseeing the legal and compliance transition within our organisation based in Bulgaria. This proactive approach helps us anticipate challenges, maintain business continuity, and support a smooth integration into the Eurozone framework.

Finally, I would highlight my involvement in analysing and implementing internal strategies aimed at improving operational efficiency and enhancing business performance. These initiatives are designed to streamline workflows, optimise resource allocation, and support the organisation’s long-term growth objectives.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

I truly believe that having clarity in how you approach periods of instability or crisis is what ultimately allows any organisation to overcome them.

In today’s business environment, strong legal leadership has consistently proven successful throughout my career. It enables swift, informed decisions and empowers leadership to manage crises effectively. Legal leadership should not only mitigate risks but also guide the organisation through uncertainty with a principled approach and strategic vision. Anticipating potential crises and preparing response plans that align legal and business strategies are essential elements of resilience.

Another crucial factor is conducting accurate risk assessments and providing clear legal guidance to identify challenges, operational disruptions, and potential business impact, allowing for effective mitigation.

Maintaining consistent and proactive communication with regulatory bodies, internal stakeholders, and external partners is also vital. Legal teams must ensure timely and transparent updates on legal implications and strategic decisions.

Finally, cross-functional collaboration at both local and global levels ensures that legal strategies are embedded within broader business continuity plans. In times of uncertainty, combining strategic vision, legal clarity, and collaboration allows legal professionals to turn challenges into opportunities and strengthen long-term resilience.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

Among the most notable projects I have been involved in was providing legal assistance for the implementation of a cloud service, introduced for the first time in Romania’s B2C segment. At the time, this was a pioneering initiative that required navigating complex regulatory frameworks, addressing data protection requirements, and ensuring contractual clarity for end users. It was a highly collaborative effort that showcased how innovation and compliance can work together to deliver secure, customer-centred digital solutions.

What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about? Why is this?

As part of the HCLTech group, I am passionate about digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. These innovations are transforming organisational models and individual experiences. I am particularly interested in how AI and automation enhance legal and compliance functions, driving efficiency, transparency, and strategic value across the business.

What factors influence your team’s decision to use external legal services versus handling matters in-house, and what criteria are used to evaluate their performance?

We typically engage external legal counsel when facing tight deadlines or complex, debatable legal matters that require a second opinion. What we value most in our external partners is their promptness, innovative thinking, and business-oriented solutions—qualities that are essential in high-stakes or time-sensitive legal situations.
