What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past twelve months?
Over the past twelve months, I have participated in the key strategic initiatives driving Pacífico Salud’s growth in the Peruvian healthcare market, including integration efforts for SANNA as a unified company, ensuring alignment and approval of operational processes across its locations in Lima, Arequipa, Piura, and La Libertad.
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into legal teams, how can general counsel ensure the successful incorporation of these tools without compromising the human element?
In my experience, it is less about how much we depend on technology and more about how much technology depends on us. In a legal function especially, the human element will always be irreplaceable. Judgment, ethics, context and empathy cannot be automated.
That said, AI is a powerful strategic partner. It allows us to move faster, respond more efficiently, and perform deeper analysis and risk assessments. When used well, it frees up time from repetitive tasks and enables our team to focus on higher value work such as advising the business and exercising critical judgment.
Successful incorporation comes down to three things: clear governance, continuous training and a strong ethical compass. We need to understand these tools well enough to anticipate their limitations and risks, not just their benefits. If we treat AI as a complement rather than a replacement, we can scale our impact without losing what makes legal work truly valuable.
How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to create a more inclusive work environment?
For me, diversity and inclusion start with a simple principle: what is not measured is not managed. That is why we track our diversity metrics intentionally. Today, more than half of my legal team is made up of women across all levels, and the majority of my direct reports are women.
We also prioritise diversity beyond gender. Our team includes people from different age groups and nationalities, which ensures we bring genuinely different perspectives to the table. I believe better decisions come from cognitive and experiential diversity, especially in a function like legal.
Culturally, I promote safe spaces, open communication, and clear best practices that encourage people to speak up. We also track promotions and career progression to ensure fairness and diversity in internal growth.
As a leader, I take this personally. I have two daughters, and that has shaped my commitment to gender equity. I want to help build a future where every woman on my team has the same opportunities to thrive and lead as any man.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
Professionally, nothing motivates me more than the challenge of bringing high quality healthcare to more Peruvians and, hopefully, across Latin America in the future. That is what drives me to work at Pacífico Salud every day.
We are deeply committed to expanding access to healthcare, especially to underserved populations. Our ambition is to increase our capillarity, penetrate the base of the pyramid and deliver innovative health solutions to every corner of the country, particularly where the public sector cannot keep up with demand. Seeing how strategy and execution translate into real impact on people’s lives is incredibly meaningful to me.
On a personal level, I am also passionate about sports. I have practiced different disciplines throughout my life, from running marathons to swimming competitively, and I still compete in swimming today. It helps me stay grounded, build resilience and maintain balance between my professional ambitions and my personal wellbeing.
