About

Ruth Muasya is an accomplished legal professional with over 12 years of experience in corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, regulatory compliance and corporate governance. She currently serves as Legal Manager at Victoria Commercial Bank Plc, where she leads the bank’s legal function, advising the Board, Executive Management, and business units on matters central to operational integrity, strategic growth, and regulatory alignment.

In her current role, Ruth has successfully negotiated and closed multimillion facilities with global Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), securing both Impact funds and Green credit facilities, which have strengthened the bank’s lending portfolio. These transactions have significantly enhanced the bank’s liquidity, broadened access to finance for SMEs and corporates, and deepened investor confidence.

As evidence of her commitment to forward-looking governance and triple bottom line framework, Ruth championed the integration of Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) principles into the bank’s core operations. She spearheaded the establishment of a dedicated ESG department, and the implementation of an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) aligned with global best practice.

An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Ruth holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Moi University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She has also completed her Company Secretarial Certification and is currently enrolled in the Programme for Management Development at Strathmore Business School. She is also an alumna of the Female Future Leadership Programme by the Federation of Kenya Employers.

In addition to managing legal affairs, Ruth is deeply committed to staff well-being, actively serving as Chair of the Staff Welfare Committee. She dedicates her efforts to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace environment.
