Career Biography

Jason Lin is an accomplished legal and compliance executive with over 20 years of extensive experience in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic legal advisory across multinational organisations and global unicorn start-ups. His career reflects a commitment to excellence in legal strategy and compliance management, positioning him as a trusted advisor and thought leader in the field.

Currently, Jason serves as Global Compliance Lead at Univers (formerly known as “Envision Digital ”远景智能, a global unicorn leader in AI for energy) and the General Counsel of Univers China, where he drives global compliance programs, strengthens internal governance structures, and advises on critical legal matters impacting international operations. His leadership focuses on building robust compliance systems, fostering ethical business practices, and mitigating legal risks in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. In addition to his global role, as the legal head of Univers China, he advises complex deals with the clients ranged from SOEs to MNCs, and the regulatory management domain focused on the export control and sanction, cross border data transmission and AI regulations and their risk management.

Prior to joining Univers, Jason began his senior leadership journey as Vice President of Legal for RRD (RR Donnelley) Asia. As the ultimate legal and compliance leader in RRD Asia, he oversaw regional legal operations, managed complex cross-border transactions, and ensured compliance with diverse regulatory frameworks. During his tenure, Jason played a pivotal role in leading RRD’s growth in the Asia-Pacific market and leading the effort to invest in new market of Vietnam, Australia and Thailand and designing the local market legal support strategy. Jason led and advised on some significant M&A deals with China and Japan partners for the JV and other business initiatives. He demonstrated the legal value highly honored by RRD global and regional leadership.

Earlier, Jason was the Legal Director of Dell Greater China, where he led the legal team to advise Dell’s Public and Large Enterprise Business Unit, Software Business Unit and Service Business Unit. As the subject matter expert, he led Dell’s investment in China’s highly restricted VATS (Value Added Telecom Service) and IDC (Internet Data Center) business by designing the sophisticated legal structure to be consistent with China regulatory requirements while aligned with Dell’s global strategy.

Before Dell, Jason held the position of Regional Legal Counsel of SAP APJ. At SAP, Jason advised the software license and other relevant business to China, HK, TW and JP clients. As the integration team member, he advised and managed some SAP’s major M&As, and their post-merger integration in Mainland China market.

In his early career period, Jason served Sony, Philips and Motorola in various progressive legal positions, and accumulated profound legal experiences in first-tier MNCs.
