Legal Director | Hapag Lloyd
Giordano Peri
Legal Director | Hapag Lloyd
With more than 15 years of experience as an in-house solicitor at two publicly traded companies, both members of the IPSA, I have developed a deep understanding of corporate legal needs and how to address them efficiently, considering the dynamism and risks inherent in the business, as well as the importance of executive and accurate communication with managers and directors.
I obtained a Bachelor of Legal Sciences degree from Adolfo Ibáñez University and was admitted to the bar in 2005.
I began my professional career at Estudio Carvallo, a firm specialising in maritime insurance litigation, where I handled recovery cases in both the extrajudicial and judicial stages. This experience allowed me to acquire key skills in fact analysis, negotiation and procedural strategy.
I then joined CSAV, a global shipping company with a presence in the United States, Brazil, Germany, and Hong Kong. During this stage, I focused on the corporate area, participating in the preparation and review of various types of contracts: from the construction and financing of container ships to commercial contracts with customers and suppliers, including mergers and acquisitions.
In March 2018, I joined SAAM, a leading company in the Americas in tugboat and port terminal services. My role focused on providing legal advice to new business development management, actively participating in growth processes through M&A. In addition, I took on the preparation and control of the group’s legal budget, contract review, and legal support for the logistics, ports, and tugboat areas.
In 2022, I obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Law (LLM) from Adolfo Ibáñez University, consolidating my knowledge of corporate legal structure, corporate taxation, mergers and acquisitions, microeconomics, and corporate finance. That same year, I was promoted to deputy legal manager of SAAM, participating directly in the acquisition of its port and logistics units by Hapag Lloyd.
In August 2023, after the acquisition was completed, I took on the role of legal vice president of SAAM Terminals, now Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America. In this position, I lead the legal department of the first regional office of Hanseatic Global Terminal, new global terminal operator based in Rotterdam, interacting directly with Hapag Lloyd’s global legal team and contributing to the company’s strategic development in Latin America.
