Leidy Diana Lugo is Legal Manager for Hydrocarbons and Energy at Grupo MARTÍ, with more than 15 years of experience across corporate, civil, regulatory, real estate and energy law. She leads the legal and regulatory strategy for the group’s energy projects and hydrocarbons operations across the Dominican Republic, combining legal expertise with risk management, regulatory compliance and strategic business support.
Having joined Grupo MARTÍ in 2015 as a Senior Lawyer, she was promoted to Legal Manager for Hydrocarbons and Energy in February 2023. In her current role, she leads and supervises the legal team responsible for obtaining and maintaining the regulatory permits required for Grupo MARTÍ’s hydrocarbons businesses and energy projects. She is also a permanent member of the group’s Operating Committee, contributing to key operational and strategic decisions alongside senior leadership.
Throughout her career at Grupo MARTÍ, Leidy has played an active role in some of the group’s most significant negotiations, acquisitions and investments in the hydrocarbons and energy sectors. These include the strategic alliance between Sunix Petroleum and TotalEnergies Marketing Dominicana, as well as the Martí Solar Photovoltaic Park, a 50 MW solar power plant designed to supply electricity to the Dominican Republic’s National Interconnected Electric System (SENI). She also leads regulatory permitting and compliance processes for the Martí Solar Plant and the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) facilities owned or operated by the group throughout the country.
Leidy works closely with departments across the business, advising on regulatory, commercial, employment and contentious matters, negotiations, transactions and key business decisions, as well as reviewing and executing a wide range of commercial agreements.
Before moving in-house, Leidy worked at Gómez & Gratereaux, KRG Abogados Consultores and the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), gaining experience in hydrocarbons, litigation, employment, civil and real estate law.
She holds a law degree from Universidad Católica Santo Domingo and a Master’s degree in Civil Law and Civil Procedure from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. She is also an active member of the Asociación Nacional de Jóvenes Empresarios (ANJE), Women’s Energy Network – Dominican Republic (WEN) and the Asociación Dominicana de la Industria Eléctrica (ADIE).
