Periods of instability or crisis are often when the legal function can demonstrate its greatest value, acting as a true safeguard and supporting the business to overcome challenges and major risks to business continuity, such as financial and credit constraints or raw material scarcity. During crisis periods, the best approach is always to have a very clear view of the most critical exposures and to work closely with business leadership to ensure that legal priorities are aligned with the company’s strategy. Additionally, to ensure organisational resilience, it is important to adopt measures such as maintaining open communication with regulators and key stakeholders, and ensuring that governance structures are functioning effectively to support a fast decision-making process.
