What are the most significant cases, projects and/or transactions that you and/or your legal team have recently been involved in?
The most significant project was implementing a new corporate governance structure, including the creation of federated departments serving six companies across two countries. We unified governance standards and established a stronger framework. I was also appointed Director of the newly created Corporate Governance department.
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
I believe resilience during times of crisis comes from staying calm, informed, and focused. Change is constant, so I prioritise keeping up to date with legal and regulatory developments and applying changes gradually, in a way that aligns with each company’s context and needs. It’s a balance between strategic thinking and staying grounded.
AI has been taken seriously as a potentially revolutionary technological change in the legal world for a number of years now. Has it had a meaningful impact in how your legal team works in this time?
AI has had a meaningful impact. My team often uses it to consult on various topics, which saves valuable time they can dedicate to other tasks. It’s definitely something we’d like to integrate into our internal tools in the near future.
What factors influence your team’s decision to use external legal services versus handling matters in-house, and what criteria are used to evaluate their performance?
Managing six companies with different needs means our day-to-day can be demanding. We usually decide to use external legal services based on the scope and complexity of the project. External counsel often supports us with tasks like visits to government entities and provides summaries of key findings, helping us stay efficient.
