Career Biography

My career has been shaped by the opportunity to lead both Compliance and Corporate Governance within a Dominican business group. Having both functions under a single leadership has given me a unique perspective on how organizations create long-term value. While Compliance and Corporate Governance have different objectives, I have never viewed them as separate. Compliance provides the discipline and confidence organizations need to operate responsibly, while Corporate Governance strengthens leadership, improves decision-making, and helps organisations achieve their long-term strategy. Together, they become strategic partners to the business rather than simply control functions.

I currently serve as Director of Compliance and Corporate Governance at Centro Financiero Crecer, a Dominican business group comprising six companies—five in the Dominican Republic and one in El Salvador. My responsibilities are primarily focused on the Dominican Republic, while also collaborating on selected corporate governance matters from a broader group perspective. In this role, I work closely with our Boards of Directors, Board Committees, senior management, and management teams to ensure that Compliance and Corporate Governance contribute meaningfully to the organization’s strategy, culture, and long-term objectives.

One of the most meaningful opportunities of my career has been leading the development and ongoing consolidation of the Corporate Governance model across the group. It has been both a rewarding and demanding experience. Throughout this process, we have strengthened Board and committee practices, modernized governance policies, enhanced governance reporting, and built more consistent governance processes across the group’s six companies. Beyond the frameworks and processes, one of our main objectives has been to position Corporate Governance as a function that supports better business decisions, strengthens institutional culture, and contributes to the organization’s long-term success.

Compliance has been equally rewarding. As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, one of my key responsibilities is leading the organization’s response to regulatory change. Together with my team, we assess new regulatory requirements, define implementation strategies, coordinate with the business areas involved, and monitor progress through to completion. While successful implementation depends on the commitment of many teams across the organization, I am proud of the role my team plays in providing guidance, maintaining momentum, and helping ensure that regulatory changes are implemented in a practical and consistent manner.

One of the achievements I value most is the team I have built. Developing talented professionals, fostering a culture of trust and accountability, and creating an environment where people feel empowered to contribute has been just as rewarding as any governance or compliance initiative. Today, I have the privilege of working with people who challenge ideas constructively, support one another, and genuinely care about delivering high-quality work. The trust we have built and the way we collaborate every day have become one of the greatest strengths of our function.

Looking ahead, I hope to continue strengthening both Compliance and Corporate Governance while contributing to a broader understanding of Corporate Governance as a strategic business function. In my experience, the strongest organizations are not those that simply comply with regulations, but those that use Corporate Governance to align people, strengthen leadership, improve decision-making, and create long-term value. That is the perspective I hope to continue promoting throughout my career.
