Doğuş Group is one of the largest private-sector conglomerates in Turkey with a portfolio of around 300 companies across a number of sectors. Befitting a company of such strategic importance in the Turkish market, its legal team is known as one of the strongest in the country, with a number of high-profile lawyers helping the company to achieve its growth targets. The team is led by group chief legal counsel, Ahmet Kurutluoğlu, himself a much respected member of Turkey’s in-house community. In 2016 alone, the legal team has helped the company to strike a number of major deals, including securing $1.14bn in financing from six Turkish banks for a luxury port project near the Galata district of Istanbul, a deal Doğuş is also contributing $1.5bn toward. The legal team has also been praised for its role in a number of marine and shipyard acquisitions.
