Boren Kork leads the legal function of ANZ Royal Bank, cooperating heavily with the senior management of the business where she sits on the executive committee. Boren relates that the team has undergone an extensive transformation in recent years, as ‘the structure and people of legal team were completely changed back in the middle of 2016’. Despite this, it has managed to achieve some notable successes in this time. Boren describes how the team has ‘built capacity across the bank through regular and ad-hoc legal updates and training sessions, simplified legal processes and documentation, and [has] taken part in uplifting the bank’s engagement with employees and community through active participation in training and community programs’. Alongside this, the team has transformed itself towards being more ‘responsive, proactive, approachable and outgoing’. The ANZ Royal Bank legal function strives at all times to stick to its mantra of five core values, which Boren describes as ‘integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence (ICARE)’.
