Esmilce Romina Estigarribia Larrea, Head of Legal & Compliance – Itaú Seguros Paraguay, is currently responsible for the legal department, regulatory compliance, and corporate policies. With a strong academic and professional background, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to the insurance sector, institutional governance, regulatory matters, and corporate governance. She combines legal insight with strategic business vision, enriched by operational understanding and knowledge of applicable industry regulations.

She is a legal and business professional holding dual degrees in Law (2013) and as a Notary Public (2017) from the National University of Asunción. Her academic credentials are further strengthened by national and international specializations, including a Master’s in Corporate Compliance from the Catholic University of Murcia and an academic title from CEUPE – European Business School, Madrid – Spain (2023), certification in UNE-ISO 19600:2015 Compliance Guidelines by TUV NORD, Madrid – Spain (2023), a diploma in Insurance Law from the Catholic University of Our Lady of the Assumption, Asunción – Paraguay, the Latin American Specialization in Prevention of Money Laundering Risks, Business Administration and Management (2020), among others.

These qualifications have enabled her to provide advisory services with in-depth knowledge of the local regulatory environment, while also understanding the practices and experiences of international markets in areas she has specialized in.

Her contributions as in-house counsel have given her the opportunity to lead the creation and structuring of legal departments on more than one occasion. She has supported several strategic business initiatives, product development, and the implementation of Good Corporate Governance practices within the insurance sector. She prioritizes and promotes regulatory compliance, adherence to best ethical practices, and integrity. Additionally, she has participated in reviewing and contributing to the discussions of regulatory projects and laws in the insurance sector and is a member of civil associations focused on law.
