Compliance and ESG continue to remain in focus for 2025 & 2026 with EPR and Circularity laws continuing to develop.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

It is more important than ever for a GC to be in tune with the business challenges as many times business issues or trends are a pre cursor to legal issues. Strong legal teams provide guidance in anticipation of a legal issue arising.

What strategies do you employ to ensure the successful digital transformation of a legal department while maintaining compliance with your country’s data protection laws?

There are plenty of basic things that can and should be done in legal departments to responsibly utilize AI and automation that do not violate data protection laws. When hiring we are looking for non-traditional skills such as data science experience to help round out our legal team’s expertise. I am also a big believer in training, I will always make time and budget available for training.
