Petrochemical Industies Company (PIC) is an international petrochemical company and a subsidiary of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, an oil and gas production exploration and development company based in Kuwait. PIC is an industry leader in the chemicals industry in the Middle East and throughout the world. Its legal team is managed by legal manager Hessah Abdullah Al Twijri, and consists of seven lawyers and support staff: legal advisors Rashed Al Raqeeb; Salem Ali Ahmad, Youssef Abdulsttar and Sabitha Abdulaziz; legal researcher Hassan Alyassen; and legal affairs researcher assistant Abdul Hadi Al Ajmi.

In the last two years the department has implemented technological and structural improvements with the integration of a new electronic system for board decision and tracing systems, a new guideline for memorandums of understanding and non-disclosure agreements, new educational and archiving procedures, a legal case management system and an archive system to help analyse the outcomes of cases and decisions.

The team has also worked on having greater coordination between the oil sector legal departments by having a frequent meeting to discuss any related legal issues and new policies. In terms of transactions, the team has worked on the due diligence for two major projects in India, one in the US and a feasibility study for a new project in China. The team has also adapted expertly to recent changes in the chemicals market, company law, laws on tenders, and agency law as well as the possibility of the implementation of VAT in Kuwait and crude-oil price hikes.
