Career Biography
Samira Esquiliano is a corporate and financial lawyer with 15 years of professional experience advising top financial institutions and corporations on strategic transactions, regulatory compliance, and securities law. She is recognised for her outstanding leadership, strategic vision, and exceptional negotiation skills with key stakeholders in high-impact and multidisciplinary environments.

Currently, Samira serves as Senior Vice President at Banamex, where she provides legal counsel on the Bank’s strategic projects and leads legal support for the Corporate and Government Banking division. She manages a team of ten professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture built on trust, accountability, and results. Her leadership combines empathy and precision, ensuring efficient coordination and alignment across complex business structures.

Prior to joining Banamex, Samira was Senior Associate at Graham Abogados, S.C., advising on mergers and acquisitions, investment structures, and financial instruments such as CKDes and FIBRAs. She was responsible for drafting and negotiating complex contracts and ensuring regulatory compliance, consistently delivering business-oriented legal solutions.

From 2016 to 2023, she held the position of Senior Manager at BBVA México, leading major legal projects related to debt and equity offerings, IPOs, and public tender offers under both Mexican and New York law. She provided strategic guidance to senior management, negotiated with institutional clients, and oversaw key financing and securities transactions that required a deep understanding of financial regulation and market practices.

Earlier in her career, she gained solid experience at Afore XXI Banorte, HR Ratings, and Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C., where she developed strong expertise in corporate governance, financial law, and investment transactions.

Samira holds a Master’s Degree in Private Law from Escuela Libre de Derecho, where she graduated with the highest GPA, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from CIDE, where she also ranked top of her class.

Beyond her legal practice, Samira is deeply committed to mentorship and education. Since 2018, she has participated in mentorship programmes through Fundación BBVA, AbogadasMx, and Fundación Forge, supporting young professionals and students in their academic and career development. She also teaches Civil and Corporate Agreements at CIDE, where she encourages analytical thinking and practical problem-solving in financial law, and has served as a guest lecturer at Escuela Libre de Derecho.
