What are the most significant cases, projects and/or transactions that you and/or your legal team have recently been involved in?
Our legal team plays a vital role in supporting the company’s business objectives by addressing critical legal and governance issues.
We have successfully led a large-scale debt recovery project, delivering tangible business results. This initiative has demonstrated our ability to work collaboratively as a team and achieve effective outcomes in complex matters.
We are also actively promoting risk management frameworks tailored to our business operations and working to strengthen corporate governance across the group, including subsidiaries. We support the development of structures that reflect both legal requirements and strategic business goals.
Furthermore, we are committed to promoting a culture of integrity and preventing misconduct through internal education and awareness activities. In particular, we have produced and distributed short internal videos to enhance employees’ understanding of legal compliance.
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
We prioritise clear communication, risk identification, and prompt legal assessment to support the organisation’s resilience.
Our legal team maintains close collaboration with management and business units on a regular basis, quickly assessing potential legal risks and providing practical advice that ensures compliance with applicable laws while enabling swift decision-making.
What strategies do you employ to ensure the successful digital transformation of a legal department while maintaining compliance with your country’s data protection laws?
We have introduced an AI-based system to handle legal inquiries from business teams.
This system is designed to provide responses by drawing on both internal company rules and AI’s broader knowledge base. Currently, approximately 80% of inquiries are handled directly by AI. Legal team members remain involved to oversee and validate the process where necessary, ensuring that the system operates within the boundaries of our national data protection laws.
Since the system is still in the early stages of implementation, we are continuously improving it to enhance its accuracy and reliability. Beyond efficiency gains, we see AI as a valuable tool for empowering business units to improve their legal awareness and develop a more refined legal mindset through better prompt formulation and issue clarification.
Our strategy is to implement technology in a way that not only reduces routine workload, but also elevates legal literacy across the organisation — while always maintaining strict compliance with applicable regulations.
How does your team contribute to the overall business strategy of the company? Can you share an example of a recent legal-led initiative that had a significant impact?
Our legal team contributes to the company’s overall business strategy by enabling innovation and expansion into new areas, while ensuring that legal risks are properly identified and managed.
One recent example is our support for the company’s exploration of emerging fields, such as AI and the metaverse. We work closely with business teams to assess potential legal risks and conduct simulations that consider how the business may evolve under various scenarios.
In particular, we proactively developed internal guidelines for the use of AI, ahead of formal regulations, and have continued to revise them in line with the direction and needs of the business. This legal-led initiative has provided clarity and confidence to business teams, allowing them to move forward with new technologies while maintaining legal and ethical standards.
