Centrofin Management’s legal function has been headed by its now general counsel Sophia Tsami since 1996, during which she has amassed an extremely detailed knowledge of legal requirements including, but not limited to, maritime, shipping, banking and corporate law, corporate governance, ship-finance and contract negotiations. She has also developed an extensive global network of business contacts in the industry around the world, helping to drive business for the company directly. Under the leadership of Tsami the legal department operates in a very diligent, innovative and dynamic way, also covering areas related to legal and risk management, regulatory compliance and loss prevention. When asked to point out the department’s notable recent achievements, Tsami mentions a variety of excellent results: ‘Though I am bound by confidentiality principles and rules from being more specific, I believe that the legal department has been very successful in support of the company’s objectives’.
