What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?

The reorganisation of the legal department has been technology-oriented, with a focus on AI tools and Agentic AI models. This is an ongoing and evolving effort in the corporate environment, beginning with testing and selecting tools, developing educational models both inside and outside the legal department, and proceeding through a trial and application period.

We have also produced a simple cybersecurity and compliance guide to ensure legal departments are well prepared to handle cybersecurity incidents in the AI age. Additionally, the legal department, as part of a working company team, was awarded the Silver Compliance Award in Greece in the category ‘Best Compliance Team – Telecoms, Media & Technology Sector’ for the public contract concluded: ‘Development of Information Security Management & Business Continuity Systems, CISO & SOC Services.’

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

It was a unique experience to be the lawyer who established the company’s legal department, following the company’s 25-year passion for technology as a General Counsel and its successful transformation into a publicly listed group of companies with an international profile across all aspects of technology, both hardware and software.

What strategies do you employ to ensure the successful digital transformation of a legal department while maintaining compliance with your country’s data protection laws?

The digital transformation in the new AI era is a challenge, as we face the necessity of implementing AI tools within the in-house environment. This is a completely new and demanding process, also considering risks such as cybersecurity and data protection in both domestic and international contexts. Our strategies focus on the education of lawyers, testing of the tools and their algorithmic checks, and the establishment of practical, easy-to-apply checklist policies. The main aim is to prioritise security over the technological aspects of cyberspace, and to ensure protection mechanisms and backup plans are in place in case of system disruptions.
